Google is trying to ride to Yahoo’s rescue to fend off a $44.6 billion takeover bid of the Sunnyvale Web portal by Microsoft.
Eric Schmidt, Google’s chief executive, called Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang to offer help Friday, just after Microsoft disclosed its $44.6 billion offer, according to news reports. Read them here and here.
